did you perform "safety remove" option before unplugging?
if YES, a reboot is will fix it

I had the same problem. Reboot or even reflash didn't help.
Only formating the storage helped, because it was corrupted

Yeah I safely removed it, using the icon in the bottom right dock. Don't really want to re-flash... but I guess it's looking like the only way =O =[!!

Have you used some program lately that may cause this? For me this behaviour was caused by a torrent I tried to download with Transmission and when I removed that torrent and plugged my N900 to my PC I got rid of the problem.

It may be possible to repair without reformatting:
fsck.vfat -a /dev/mmcblk1p1
This is for the memory card, I don't know the device name for the phone memory.

Anyway, once I had ejected and unplugged my device from my PC, I had a yellow error box come up, saying that the storage is now Read Only, and will remain that way until I plug it back into the PC and alter settings somewhere.
I thought nothing of it, until I wanted to take some photos yesterday. Obviously, as the storage is read only it cannot save the files. Any help on how to get it back to read and write would be appreciated.
