IceWeasel (i.e. unbranded Firefox from Debian, available in EasyDebian) has Java applet support. It's a bit slow to start, but it does seem to work.

Not sure of the status of it, but there appears to be a thread mentioning java.

The real question is, do you need Desktop-flavour Java, or Mobile-Flavour Java?
