Nop.
You NEED the power39 kernel image for this also (yes, version 39 has been releaded)
After update in Maemo, download the deb package again from here.
You need to extract the zImage-2.6.28-maemo39.fiasco file, copy it to /boot/multiboot folder and rename to vmlinuz-2.6.28.10power39 (asuming you put ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.10power39 as Cofee says).

Have a look and see if you have a file named:
Maemo-2.6.28-omap1.item
in etc/multiboot.d/ folder, if not I expect that is your problem. Also, when you load Multiboot menu, you should be able to enter "0" to load the default Maemo Kernel.

think you should simply be able to install 38, go to etc/multiboot.d/ inside you will find files ".item" get the older power 37:
Maemo-2.6.28.10power37.item
Open and change the line:
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.10power37
Should be:
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.10power38
I expect that should be all mate. You may have to use xterm and copy file to MyDocs, alter and save back depending on how you do it. Would be something like:
cp /etc/multiboot.d/Maemo-2.6.28.10power37.item /home/user/MyDocs/
cp /home/user/MyDocs/Maemo-2.6.28.10power37.item /etc/multiboot.d/
Hope that helps
