I had a case and screen on from the beginning, Brando ones, but I removed but. The phone wasn't pleasant to use,and suffered the 'infamous sun bug'. When I removed them both, I started enjoying my phone much more.

What exactly made it unpleasant? And what is the sun bug?

It's a non-bug, really, but with a screen protector on, the sensor (that dedides to turn off screen during calls) thinks screen should be off, so you when you have to close a call, you need to open your keybord and "unlock" it.
Without screen protector I never had the same problem again.

yeah use a zagg.....tricky to put on so be careful....i found that unpeeling it and running it under cold water then placing it straight onto phone works well.....then leave it on phone for 12 or more hours and job done. a perfect screen protector that stays on solid and as was earlier said is easy to clean.
don’t use the stylus before the 12 hours are up or you will leave marks permanently on the screen protector.

Mine got scratched all over the screen over time. Dirty screen + stylus = scratches! So yes, get one!

Personally I've used an old case for my Dell Axim PDA, but I got my
Nokia CP-408 case yesterday, and it seems to do the work fine.
Only cons I have, is that it weakens the FM transmitting.

I would say screen protectors, at least, PRONTO!

One day I was running down my street, my phone fell out screen/bezel down, and i kicked it perfectly as it hit the ground, awesome drop kick. my bezel is all scraped up, screen is fine... i still wont put a cover on, just screen protector...

I'm also using the ZAGG, the complete coverage. Tricky to fix it on the N900 but it's worth it. but even having this on the device I'm thinking about getting one of these rock-solid otterboxes because I sometimes need to just put the phone in a bag or a pocket together with other stuff like keys. That's a killer for the phone.

Get a screen protecor for sure , it does worth the money for sure

get clarivue , its easier to apply than zagg and you don't need water to install it .

use clear123 to get 10% off when buying the clarivue screen protector from clarivue.com .

You get two of them for around 11 bucks .I have been using them for 6 months and still no scratches on it !

Give them a try , cheers
