Most likely a DNS issue. If skype works when nothing else does then it is 99% certain it's a DNS issue

Do you have any other machines connecting to the same wifi access point? Are they working correctly?

On your N900 are you getting the IP automatically? getting the DNS automatically?

You need to give us a clue before we can start helping you!

Does skype (on N900) work?
On your N900 are you getting the IP automatically? getting the DNS automatically?

In an X Terminal do "ping 8.8.8.8", if you don't see any obvious errors do CTRL-C then do "ping www.google.com", if you get an error saying something like unable to resolve host then it's 99.99999% certain it's a DNS problem.

if you havent installed it already install rootsh from the repository.
Then on the terminal window, type sudo gainroot and then try the ping command.

Well, using skype would be the easiest way of diagnosing your problem, and setting up a new account literally takes only a couple of minutes.[/quote]

You need to be root to use ping. google "n900 root".

And for the THIRD time:

On your N900 are you getting the IP automatically? getting the DNS automatically?

Or just set them to auto-retrieve if you are unwilling to disclose that information.

rootsh is already installed.

right, here we go then -

sudo gainroot

root shell enabled

ping 8.8.8.8

ping 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) : 56 data bytes

And for the THIRD time:

Do you have any non-standard characters in your WPA key? By non-standard I mean $£( etc

I seem to remember there being a problem with that and that's why I had to change mine. Might have dreamt it though...
