Thanks ZogG.. Pls help in completing this app..

I guess optX has already done a gr8 amount of wrk.. This app is almost ready.. juzz some dev like u hv to give a little more attention & compile this into a .deb package & some finishing touches to gui to make it run like a polished app..

It will be a very popular app among N900 users, I bet..

Look forward for contribution from u & charle.. thanks..

I can't seem to get this to work.
Downloaded and used the scripts. Got the icons. I start Transmission, but I can't access the GUI with the browser.
Have got transmission running according to htop though.

That's /usr/bin/transmission-daemon.

Starting Transmission starts four of these. Stop Transmission only seems to kill two of them.

edit: ok, I didn't read installation notes in terminal first time. reinstalled and rebooted. but still, same problem.

Sorry @ll for my off-time, real life sucked me up like a thirsty men in the desert .
Looks they changed transmission a lot,so i have to look @ the patchfile and then compare to the real file. It is a lot of stuff that is changed for hildonisation, so it will take some time to put everything into right place. Hope it woorks and looks the same way as qwerty12's did after doing this.

@ GuruX, how do you try to reach the gui ? If the transmission-deamon is running, you should be able to connect to the gui via your browser. http://127.0.0.1:9091 should bring you there.

Just read news on some russian site that 2.03 is working on N900 and some people even say it's faster.
http://maemos.ru/2010/08/11/transmission/ - check it with google translate till i'll have time to check and to translate it.

That is the same one OptX has worked on.. However, it stills needs to be completed & packed to .deb file.. If devs could spare some time & help OptX to complete this app, it could be completed faster & released for testing..

Remember: This is still early beta but looks like working ok so far. One thing i dont get is that the N900 wants to update this version (2.03-1) version with the older (1:1.76-1maemo0)

I made also a little install script.
Howto (rootsh is needed) :

1. Get the AIO-Pack from here : AIO-Pack

2. Unzip it, and put the files (install.sh & transmission.tar.gz) in the same folder on your N900 via usb. I've used the download folder in MyDocs. You can create even a new folder if you like to.

3. Open Terminal and type root
!!! root can harm your N900, even brick it, if you do something wrong !!!

4. Change to the directory where you put the two files. cd /path/to/files/...
(cd /home/user/Mydocs/download, in my case)

5. Type sh install.sh and wait for the script to be done.

6. Close Terminal

You should now have 2 new transmission icons (red+green) to start/stop the deamon in the background. Once it is started, wait a short time, then open the browser and type http://127.0.0.1:9091.
Now you should be able to use transmission from the GUI.
If you want to download a torrent, just save the .torrent file inside /home/user/MyDocs/torrent.
The deamon itself watches this folder, and adds it automaticly.
Some settings can be changed in the lower left corner.
Thats it.
I hope this is explained well enough

edit : changed AIO file, was not working... sorry !!
Thank you for your work.

Unfortunately the WebGUI for Transmissions is not complete enough to be useful. You can't select which files out of the torrent you want, cant use blocklists, can't really do anything.

I do agree that it is a much easier route to go just using the web page. It mite also save some memory not having to have a GUI open. On the other hand it also opens up security holes for people that don't have the Kernel-power installed and iptalbes setup correctly.

If you want to go the WebGUI route I'd suggest useing qBittorent
It has a Full Complete WebGUI with all the options you could ever want. It also is run on libtorrent Wich I think we can all agree is about the best. It will connect to ALL torrent trackers at the same time.

Yeah, the WebUI is really not the best one. Sad that i did not find any info's, that lazarus runs inside scratchbox. That is needed for a nice WebUI. Looking from time to time for a good WebUI, but did not find one that i can try to port. I want to port transmission like quwerty12 did. The Web part was fast done and so i made a pack for testing, thats it
Transmission is now on 2.04 and the quick and dirty port works as good as 2.03. This weekend i will have a deeper look at the source and see what i can get out of it. Qwerty12 did change a lot, and i have to sort out what does what
