I encode my movies encoded with mencoder -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4...etc, which gives me what I need: videos I can watch on my 770s built-in video player.

Now, given that I'd rather not use mplayer on the 770 (its just because I'm used to the GUI of Nokias player), is there any codec that uses all of my 4 CPUs and will produce compliant MPEG4-files? I use x264 usually for encoding, but AFAIK Nokias player doesn't support H.264, right? At least I couldnt get it working...

even the lavcodec does have its -thread option, but as the manpage says, it seems it only works when encoding mpeg1/2.

So... any idea on how to create Nokia-compliant MPEG4-files using more than just one CPU on my GNU/Linux box? Maybe its only a matter of choosing the right options with x264 - after all, H.264 is part of MPEG4, isn't it?
