hi i wasnt sure where to post this or if there already was a thread (couldnt find one)

but i find that when i lock my n900.. it would automatically unlock itself on random occasions
i became aware of it because i would lock the phone, put it into my pocket.. and take it out and it would have opened emails and started typing something

i then knew it was unlocking by itself because it was night time and i locked the phone and was walking, suddenly i found that the phone was on again...

after playing around a bit with my phone and trying to find what is causing it to unlock itself.. i find that if i lock it by double pressing the on/off button (this locks the phone).. and i press it a few more times after.. the screen will jitter a little and unlock itself

i was wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if there was a solution


so one way i found to avoid this is to use lock slide thing on the side (but iv grown used to using the double press on/off to lock)

I often found my phone's desktop all messed up after I take it out of my pocket. So also here my phone is unlocking itself automatically. I really don't know why this is.

My guess is a combination of (1) the "Lock screen automatically" setting in the display-menu isn't working (known bug?), eg I can wait as long as I want, but my phone does not lock after the background time-out and (2) the glitch mentioned in the post above. I can confirm what is written there. It takes some time to 'learn' how to do it, but must most of the time I can unlock the phone when I keep pressing the power button in the same frequency as to lock it.

Are the more reports of these two locking problems?

Several programs hook the power button to do stuff. Do you have any installed?

Only that program that gives you a "Tweakr" menu in Settings that I can think of. But that cannot explain the not auto-locking from point (1).

Switch from magnetic pocket cover to something else.

I have this problem too but it is linked to magnet in pocket - N900 thinks you open KBD.

There is another way... disable KBD unlocking... but I don't remember for a moment how to do this.

And if I may ask: what is KBD?

KeyBoarD. And, good idea, the Hall could be tripped.
