If this turns out to be true, my next handset will be Android for sure.
Well then don't worry anymore.
Like already explained 640x360 is used on N8 and probally on most of the S^3 devices because of the apps. Symbian itself can scale up pretty easily.
Nokia already said in the announcement of Harmattan that next device after N900 will have 800 x 480 screen. Things might have changed since that old announcement, but i think only for better.

Maemo didn't have this problem and same goes for MeeGo. S^4 wont have this problem anymore as old apps other than the Qt ones made now don't run on it anymore.

the chief marketing officer for nokia said the the meego device will be the tiptop high-end device for nokia.

so then WHY would the screen res be LESS than the n900 if it is the first meego?

that makes no sense, dont be absurd.

im hoping for A9 + the new Tosh 128gb storage chip + microsdxc compat. with true 16mil colors. get some tegra graphics up in this ***** and well have some fun. AS LONG AS we have the same freedoms afforded to us through maemo.

N9(?) prototype looks promising. I'd definitely add it on to my list of 'maybe's' for my next device PROVIDING IT HAS:
  1. Full SatNav with parity to other Nokia handsets (i.e. NOT N900)
  2. Decent and FAST email client (i.e. NOT N900)
  3. Decent battery life (N900 duration would suffice)
  4. User-swappable batteries (like N900)
  5. Rugged USB port (NOT like N900)
  6. Desktop contact widgets (like N900)

These are the features I'll insist on next time and I'm afraid I won't be amongst the first to get N9 or whatever the new Meego device turns out to be. I rather sold myself short on the SatNav and Email client on N900 by telling myself that Nokia would implement them on N900 soon...

"Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me"

Back in the here & now I'm still enjoying my N900. It's not been what I expected (or hoped for) in some areas, but it has been the most engaging device I've ever owned.

My N900 will leave a big pair of boots to fill. Very often it's the imperfections and shortfalls that make for the experience - ask anyone whose owned an Italian motorbike or a British sportscar...

Didnt really like the looks of this N9, looks very bland - think the previous mockup version looked much better. Have to hope the final version will have a decent finish and better materials.

Yes i know numbers aren't everything before anybody goes after that, but i agree and that would truly be something that would put Nokia on the top again as far as hw is concerned.

That said i think what we will see will be OMAP36xx.

As far as materials goes Nokia is slowly starting to be the best there while HTC makes plastic/metal phones and Samsung makes it's flagship ALL plastic(and from a crappy plastic). Nokia is actually going for full aluminium phones.

That's the thing I would expect on a high end phone - but the unit on these pictures is (IMHO) not made of aluminium. Looks like ordinary plastic sprayed silver. I wouldnt put money on the keyboard shell lasting more than a year of regular use before the paint rubs off.

Has anyone noticed the 3.8V text in the battery? I think Nokia has last few years used 3.7V batteries. Maybe this could have something to do with the Moorestown architecture?

Is the latest action in the Nokia vs Apple lawsuits? Nokia decides to completely copy Apple's design?
