..... like i said i dont know what it does, but it seems tied to apt-get, so if i remove it i may not be able to apt-get install it again? which would suck.

i must confess i dont know what wget is or does but its looking kinda important, so rather than remove re-install i thought i'd ask if its safe to do so first.
only answer i could find on search for a similair problem was "it seemed to fix itself after a few reboots and a battery pull" suffice to say reboots haven't helped and i dislike battery pulls!
sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit, but its the only wit i have.
its a sad day when i can't slip at least one hitchhiker reference in somewhere.
