No. Andre is the maemo.org bugmaster, he is paid to (amongst other things) triage reports, and sync the maemo.org bugzilla with the internal tracker.

See: http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo.org_team#Bugmaster
and: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=51868

for more information on precisely what he does.

While I'm not saying you're wrong, remember that a forum post is just that: a forum post. The information contained within them varies a great deal in terms of accuracy, reliability, and so on (depending on who it comes from, their reputation, etc). In other words, YMMV very much. :-)

We can all be negative and all have individual reasons for doing so but hey look on the bright side and stop at least to think Nokia have dumped on us because if you look at the direction they are going it is Meego and yes Maemo they have dumped but remember the N900 is a completely programmable device and all it will take to put Meego at it's best is the closed source drivers to become availabe.

This community although full of fanboys and people who just love to jump on you if you utter a bad word against Nokia are in the same boat as us and also have grievences so just ignore the comments attacking people.

What the community is striving for is a better situation all round and trying hard to get Meego rolling on the N900 so have some faith if not in Nokia but in this community and it's helpful members and even though i moan sometimes i do appreciate this community so let's keep it going as we very need it.

VOTE for the community ok.

I think this is a mixture of the fact many people have come to realise the N900 has so many issues so there are many more negative comments and the hostile N900 defenders have realised it is not a case of a few iphone trolls but a really long line of people who have genuine issues with the N900.
That and most people have left the forums. The forum itself is a mere shell of what it use to be like in the InternetTabletTalk days. Way too much noise to signal. And it's not worth investing your time to help a community (or users) that doesn't know how to behave itself. Complaining is fine, but recognize that

a) Nokia doesn't care, and they don't read these forums
b) Useless complaining just creates noise that makes it harder for people who want to help, or want to contribute programs or whatever.

End result is people leave towards other communication methods or don't bother helping at all anymore. Making it much much harder to use your N900 if you don't have a background in using Maemo/Linux.

I am left with the distinct feeling Nokia made a half baked product, left it up to the community to fix the shortcomings of the device, but blocked the communities ability to fix some of the major/core issues. I wanted a communicator phone and a good calendar plus a lot of fun features.
Esp the calendar doesn't support google calendar really well and the email client also does a suboptimal job.
Google is one of the most popular email and calendar services in the world, it is inexcusable not to fix this. It is possible to go via the browser, but it is painfully slow.

Many of the issues I have seemed to be resolved via nuevasync when I looked on in the forum before purchasing the phone. Most of the reviews online were very positive also. I have since learned that reviewers don't do a thorough job. Otherwise they would have experienced the crazy number of bugs on this device.

In the end it is Nokias responsibility to fix the bugs, and they haven't done an impressive job of this thus far.
The community has provided awesome programs and tried to fix the shortcomings like no mms support. But some of the major issues re in the closed components on the phone, and Nokia are simply under-performing in fixing these problems.

I'm pretty darn good. I stay at a Maemo site despite multiple people wanting to rush me away each and every day.

I exist to make folks angry. I thought you knew that?

Generally Evil Response Bot for Infiltrating Communities & a Killjoy... thought you knew?

Haha. You forgot to say that you:
Hate Flash and/or Steve Jobs
The community has let you down
Nokia has abandoned you
You're still upset that hawaiian shirts have yet to come back in style
But all seriousness, the negativity is mostly because of the fact that everything is in transition and Nokia has not communicated well with this community on certain aspects.

Let's hope that all changes going forward.
