That's right. Then you run "chmod ug+x yourscriptname" and then run the script as root.

The name of the script is whatever you save the file as. So if you open the terminal, run "leafpad lightcycle" and then paste the script and save, your script name would be lightcycle.

That's right (make sure you do it as root though, so run sudo gainroot first or "rootsh ./lightcycle")

Hey all,
I also think that it was fcam.
When I updated it thru the ap manager, no more keybord lights.
Also, Fcam doesnt work at all, So I am looking to install the older app.
I have tried removing the app and drivers, still no lights, various reboots and the like.
Also, a reinstall of Fcam doesnt work and renders ALL cam apps usless

I will try this script, it will restore the keybord illumination ?

-_-, not sure if this would work as I've never had this problem, however I do turn my kb lights off on purpose, to save battery when gaming. You guys can try this:

Go to mce.ini and look for this line:
Modules=display;keypad;vibrator;led;battery;filter-brightness-als;inactivity;alarm;accelerometer;callstate;camer a;homekey;audiorouting

Remove the word 'keypad' to make it look like this:

Modules=display;vibrator;led;battery;filter-brightness-als;inactivity;alarm;accelerometer;callstate;camer a;homekey;audiorouting

(All this does is take off keypad lights.)

Restart the phone and remove the battery. Now turn it on again.

Go back to mce.ini and re-add the word keypad to the line
e.g

Modules=display;keypad;vibrator;led;battery;filter-brightness-als;inactivity;alarm;accelerometer;callstate;camer a;homekey;audiorouting

(This returns keypad lights.)

Turn phone off again, take out battery for about 15 more seconds and switch the n900 on again.

There's no guarrantee it would work though...

Thanks a lot SavageD!!
It actually worked, doing exactly what you suggested!

I thought my lightsensor got broken the other night (it fell from a 30cm table) until I read this thread.

besides: I am also using fcam and did an update that night. Maybe we can pin down the problem.

Thanks a lot
