What about changig ISP? This would be useful also for a wider access to your gpx routing direction service. A related question: is your gpx directions server-side app available under some license? It's hurting to find out it's anavailable right when it's needed. Even an obfuscated one would be nice, it could sit on our servers and we shouldn't rely on your resources. Or maybe it contains parts you can't distibute, so no way we can have it?

Yea, gnuite I've been meaning to ask the same question... would you be able to distribute a copy of your script/app that does the gpx directinos? I believe I read somewhere that you didn't distribute it because the address was constantly changing (or maybe it was the format of the XML that you must parse). Either way, it would be nice if you had a version of your script/app that was available. That way, I could download the script and run it on my own server. Then, maybe once per week, I could just have a script that went out and copied your most recent version to my server... then I would always be up-to-date with any changes you had made and it wouldn't put too much traffic on your server.

I have not read all the posts in this thread so I apologize if this has been covered already.

I would like it to be more robust to leaving the range of the gps receiver. I use it on my motorcycle with a bluetooth gps receiver and it works great. That is unless I walk away from the bike which has the gps receiver and the tablet in my pocket. In this case, Maeom Mapper crashes and loses all my tracking data.

Thanks,
Fred

The "out of range" problem/crash is gone in the beta, Mapper politely ask "GPS Error, Retry?".
Also, the track seems to be auto-recorded approximately every 30(?) seconds so you lose only a few of it when there's a problem.

I apologize if it has been asked before (I read the whole thread but it's been a while ago, so I don't remember edit: I re-read it now and nobody suggested this), but would it be possible to get driving direction from viamichelin in alternative to google? In this part of the world google isn't really accurate (I did a test drive yesterday and google told me the wrong exit number, then it told me to go in a one way street in the prohibited direction, luckily it was just a test and I already knew my way around). OTOH viamichelin has never failed me and has more knobs to adjust your route.
Another thing: would it be possible to get directions in another language, or ftlite can only synthetize english?

you can set MM so that the instruction will be downloaded in spanish, just add a "&tld=es" to the repository url, if I remember correctly. But flite, as of now, will read/pronounce them as they would read in english. I can imagine how "buscar la autopista" would be read I have my instruction in italian and it is funny..

There should be a feature that lets you mark down locations that are monitered my police for speed. In conjunction with marking there should be vocal warnings or beeps 300 or so meters away. I always have my n800 in my car runnng maemo mapper and I find myself getting tickets in the same old places. What you guys think?

Mmmh, no wonder google found nothing about ftlite, it's flite thank you.
So, flite in principle is festival light, so, with the appropriately converted files, it should work with other languages. It seems the problem is that they're not easy to convert so the only available voice is english.
