How can I select and then copy-paste from the mail client, SMS/Conversations editor and the default web browser?

Ok, so I found out the press and hold thing for the browser and for the SMS (but not IM conversations) I can hit forward and then copy-paste..but still no luck for the email client.

Indeed. In browser, swipe from offscreen right to left brings up the history. from offscreen left to right is cursor (would be nice if there were keyboard shortcuts for that, too and if it was customizable).
