Nokia markets the N900 as an N-series device. So its not correct that they released this device as an unfinished phone. Yes, its great that the maemo community is strong and adds amazing new features to it...but some stuff ... well a lot of stuff from the list above should have been added to the N900 from the start.

Of course, Nokia is under no obligation to add these features at all and are well within their rights to "fix" the N900 by releasing another device as well

Hey you missed out a few improvements:
a. timemachine : jez nokia - surely its easy to provide a fully working time machine using a flux capacitor or something.
b. xray camera. Yeah now that would rock. Being able to xray lottery tickets to find the winners ! now thats a top win feature.
3. coffee machine.
4. nuclear power source. Surely this is a no brainer as well?

I despair.

I am usually the first on to take the piss out of such posts. But this list is actually quite good. Most of them are reasonable and small fixes and really do improve the device by a lot.

I do not agree with some of them of course, but overall a very practical list. Well done.

Congratulations!

The OP has summarised Maemo.Org in relation to N900!

Good to see everything summarised in one post, though!
