This has happened a few times, but most recently was just a few days ago, post PR1.2
I was talking on the phone, with several applications open (web pages, terminal). It ran out of power completely (with no audible warning, by the way!!). I immediately plugged it in and turned it on as soon as I could (it was an important phone call).
I discovered that all the contact buttons on my desktop were gone, except the Voicemail one. The only difference I can think of between the voicemail contact and the others is that it was probably created on the phone, instead of synced from google contacts via nuevasync.
No other desktop buttons/widgets/bookmarks were touched.
Unlike other people with similar problems, I have no trouble re-adding the contacts, although I had a lot so it's a huge pain.
I make regular rsync backups, but as far as I can tell this information lives in gconf (under /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/applets/); restoring that does not sound like my idea of a good time, so unless someone has a trick there I'm just going to re-add them manually.
Does the actual backup application that comes with the phone backup the state of desktop contacts? If so, which option, and what else will get restored along with it?
Any ideas here? Anyone else having similar issues?
