I knew it was (essentially) abandoned by Nokia before I bought it a few months ago, but knowing it had easy debian (which I love) I thought what the heck I'll use it to read my epub books and learn a little program. well at that time there was no kindle for android so I had no illusions about reading kindle stuff, but I did think I would have an issue free experience with my oreilly epub collection.

well mebook has a great looking library display but no toc and locks constantly. fbreader has no toc for oreilly (unless you get a non maemo optimized version from them directly) and no scrolling. and on their own toc enabled version there is no swipe to turn page or volume rocker.

dorian does not have the nice library display of mebook but it does have working scroll and volume rocker changing...but its toc is just a numerical listing if sections on my oreilly epubs (which is essentially useless) and only even works on some of my collection.

I guess I can pay for an sd card and try kindle on nitdroid? but phone will not work correct? and I will have to reboot just to try what I read in easy debian correct?

I could care less how many games and silly apps were available. and calibre is a fail in easy debian. For a geek phone, how ironic that cant a good read on my geek books, yet they would render nice on android or the hated iphone
It's got me down.
Real down.

Please get in touch with the developers and maintainers of the ebook-apps you like to improve and/or file bugs for them.
You may link to this thread in your bugreports for reference.

Moving to application...

I've been using fbreader since I got my N810. I'm not sure, but fbreader has a TOC on my Baen books, and pdfs that have a TOC. One thought, have you checked at the end of the book or tried the TOC option in the menu?

Poor thing. I find that I use text search a lot more than a table of contents, but whatever you're in to, I guess.

Can fbreader load PDF's? Which version are you using?

No it can't. I meant pdfs that I had converted to epub/mobi using Calibre.
