Do you have a 770 or 800? I've just started encoding all my movies and i think optimum for 800 is 400x240 played back with mplayer.

MediaConverter works great not sure what codec or compression levels they use but it looks great. you can get it here https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=26 For MediaConverter i use N800 high quality (400x240) with video bitrate 576 and audio bitrate 96.

If i use auto gordian knot i encode at 400x240 xvid since divx errors out for some reason. Looks great but my 80% quality level gives file size twice the size that media converter gives. I probably could approximate mediaconverter file sizes but why bother its much quicker to encode using mediaconverter anyways.... so i use autogordianknot to encode to 720x480 for archival and then media converter to downsample for nokia.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to handle very wide screen formats... hopefully media converter will add a way to adjust level of crop to balance between cropping the whole thing to fit or leaving huge black bars. Would be nice to sacrifice only half of the horizontal crop and have half size black bars on top and bottom.

.mp4 definitely plays correctly, you can send video from Nokia cameraphones straight onto the tablet through bluetooth. I assume other formats work too.

Hi, I use autogk. What setting do you use to fix both H and W for resolution? I only see fixed W option? If you let me know I will play around and try to get autogk to make files for my 770, with out having to use media converter. thanks

Here, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...d.php?t=10352:

so, only got lucky with Katie Couric, so far; both ABC and NBC are using m4v, no luck. Basically, there are 2 camps of video file that maybe able to play with the 770. mplayer plays .avi and media player plays the rest, mainly .mpg, .mp4, .g3p (something like that). It is NOT carved in stone, it also depends on OTHER factors. M4v is out. And the VC is not very smart, you will have to play with the setting, say internal(media player) or external(mplayer) in order to stream. On some channels, error message for streaming, "format not support" could be misleading. Once dl, it maybe able to play with either players. For the time being, Katie is my friend, watching CBS/news 24 hrs a day, sort of like CNN. I also found ABC in australia that maybe working.

Would that help?
