I have been looking for reviews of wetab ... let me find where I read it:

anandtech.com

Unfortunately, the screen is a pretty big letdown on the WeTab. The 11.6” WXGA panel has a decent resolution, producing crisp images, but the viewing angles are pretty bad and the responsiveness was not very good. There were pretty frequent missed presses throughout our hands-on experience with the WeTab, and it really puts a downer on the otherwise decent UI. For a device that is shipping next week, that’s pretty disappointing, though it is possible that we were using an earlier prototype. If WeTab can figure out the touchscreen responsiveness, it could really push the MeeGo platform for tablets and carry the OS until the tablet-specific build of MeeGo is released early next year.

It is not about ress. or capacitative/resistive, just about the panel (ips vs tn) and the responsivity.

However, I am still waiting for more reviews, but at the moment those were my thoughs. BTW,

Prices, ipad wifi 485€
wetab wifi 449€

Not a real difference. If you want the 3G, then you're right, 130€ is a real difference.

And yes, I won't discuss the OSs.

As said, the viewing angle problem is gone with the retail device.
I haven't read any reviews (btw. there can't be reviews, just previews because it isn't out yet) but I've build my opinion because of my own experience.

I can say that the UI is VERY responsive.
Just check out the last seconds of the video where I show how fast it is booting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Oy-st6q5DA

But you buy an OS with the product. And if you're not satisfied with MeeGo or the WeTab UI, just throw Ubuntu or (god beware) Windows 7 on it. Thanks to the Atom CPU this is possible.

Good video However, I will wait for more videos and reviews before taking any decision . It would be great to have one of those units in some physical shop here in Barcelona, I ignore which will be the availability of this device.

BUT, the truth is that with an intel atom, the possibilities are infinite. Will any soft of other linux OS work with meego, because of the intel cpu?

Wetab, worse battery (possibly due to the higher display), worse display (panel technology), worse sensitivity (what I don't know if whether this will be acceptable or not, I hope yes, but I cannot imagine any other device more sensitive than the ipad), and possibly worse "sense" (aluminium unibody is certainly cool).

But, meego could be so great that could compensate all this issues. iOS4 is really good for a 3-5" mobile display, but for a tablet a more serious OS is needed.

Just my opinion.

Viewing angle issues are all a result of the type of panel. Apple touts having an IPS panel in the iPad but that's not really anything special.
As for the touch sensitivity issues, I didn't see any last Tuesday when users were playing with the demo device that was on hand.

I will say that the iPad has a definite advantage in the CPU, as ARM cores will continue to be significantly more efficient than the Atom for some time. But such is the price we pay for defying Jobs.

i looked at the WeTab site, there is absolutly no mention of MeeGo, just WeTab OS.
I just wonder if thats really a 'cover-up meego' or not.

Wait, the iPad's OS is beta? That sounds incorrectissimo.

Well, considering that the neofonie were at IDF and had the WeTab on stage during the Tuesday keynote and stated explicitly it was running MeeGo as well as demonstrating it the MeeGo Developer Day event just next door, I'd take that as pretty good evidence that it's based on MeeGo.
