I've had my N900 for 4 weeks now and recently I've had problems booting the phone.

Every night I turn off my phone and then charge it. When I wake up I unplug it then try to boot it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Holding the power button nothing happens, the led and screen do not turn on. The phone always has a green light on after charging. I have to remove and put back in the battery for it to start.

Just so you know I haven't messed with devel or testing at all. (Although I do have the power kernel)

Anybody have any suggestions?

Why do you turn it off at night? You could keep it turned on and therefore avoid the situation!

Thanks humble I'll try that out next time and to jedi the reason I turn it off is the phone slows down after a few days and I don't need it on at night. I've seen some scripts for speeding it up but all I have to do is reboot the phone so...

A couple of things to look into:

Titans kernal and QCPUFreq (in dev repo) to overclock it. I suggest 850 Mhz and leave it.

And the "swappolube" script thats floating around here. Or you can just go to xterm, gain root and:

echo 30 > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness

Should dramatically improve the performance.

Sheesh... The N900 loads a small portion of the OS if the phone is off when the user connects it to the charger to supervise the charging. When disconnected, the N900 unloads the OS and powers off. If stavros tries to boot the phone at the same time, it fails.
You have to wait ~10 seconds after pulling the plug before you start the phone. Or better, start the phone, and then unplug it.
