I think this has been addressed but I haven't been able to find the post. I've got my yahoo, hotmail and gmail accounts setup in my n900 and have it set to check for mail every 5 minutes. It seems to receive emails sporadically regardless of the frequency I have it set on for retrieving email. Even going in and manually selecting send/receive takes a few attempts before it receives the email. I'm always connected either through GPRS or wifi. I've been trying to figure this out but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

as a last resort, try wiping your email accounts from your phone and starting again. I had the same problem with my work email account, but got it working when I deleted the account and resubmitted

Don't go deleting anything as it will do nothing to help.

The problem is that Modest (the email client) will only connect once each time an internet connection is made after that it gets stuck until the connection is broken and remade, even a manual send & receive will often not work.

I've had this too. Setting refresh interval to 5min fixed it for me.
