Q: What is better than an N900?
A: 2 N900's - double staying power

I'd suggest you stick to your E71 hunt for the cheapest bargain on a 2nd hand N900.
Repair the broken one eventually later or keep for spare parts.

I have already 3 N900's. 1 new (still best overclocker) and 2 bargains.

Personally I look out for N9 - but it still has to be announced and show an improvement over N900 + Maemo 5.
Steve Jobs' capacitive screen doctrine might create be a first let down, Android interface of Meego another..

The N7 may be the phone to replace that trusty E71 .

I was planning on waiting for either the E7 (Symbian, but closer to what I need in a handset) or the N9 (whenever it is announced/released). In the meantime, I have been using my warhorse E71.

See my video in my signature - screen replacement is fiddly but with care perfectly possible. I paid £40 for screen including next day delivery (link in video) so its worth fixing.

i would open the phone from the back.
i think the screen connector lost contact.
it was the case on mine too - after a drop
in a train. the repair took maybe 10mins!

@SSABoy and maxximuscool:

I simply asked a question, didn't know you can't answer.

Also, thanks Hulmeth.

But I don't think Nokia comes back to open-source, after what they did to N900, or at least they are not going to make N9 something like N900 in my opinion.

Also, I agree with Radicalzz38...

I'm sorry about that. I guess us Maemo forum freaks would be living/breathing anything related to the next Maemo-related device, the rumored MeeGo N9.

I really like my N900 and like the other comments, I would try to fix it first. We have a place called http://www.jetcitydevices.com/ who do a great job on all devices and are very reasonably priced.

My biggest complaint, and I am admittaly an expert in Linix and I usually used in the Symbian world programs that you just have in install. I like Mobipocket for book reading for all types of books including .PDB. I can't read them, as far as I know on my N900 like I can on my N97. I have ebook reader installed but it looks like only a certain few books can be read and I can't it to read .PDB books.
These are the things that are very frustraiting to me about the N900 and I read that youi can't use Meego programs on the Maemo N900---it looks like the Maemo we have now is all there is as far as Maemo is concerned????

Any suggestions please---have been looking with interested at the new N7.

Thanks,
Bobby
