I came across this article which states that "according to a trusted source, Nokia is now likely to use Windows Phone 7 as an additional platform for its phones".

http://venturebeat.com/2010/09/23/no...-stephen-elop/

Is this just the usual rumour? Or have any of you heard something new on this issue? I dont even know venturebeat... is this a trusted source?

IMHO it's highly unlikely (when have Nokia ever used a third-party OS on one of their phones?) but at the end of the day even if it's true who cares, MeeGo is still going ahead and Maemo is still dead.

If I'd have to guess, the trusted source is some US-based analyst. The wording in "is likely to use", and "change the company's strategy if needed" sound like a guessing game. The author also fails the global POW test by saying "would make it(WP7) the third major platform behind Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android", discarding both Symbian and Blackberry OS.

That's what makes life so difficult... everyone now has a strong opinion they feel the urge to share, but only few have any kind of real information.

the venturebeat-article i linked to found its way to austrian mainstream media here, doing away with the question mark in the headline as a precaution not to confuse readers.

so what i read today was "Nokia interested in Windows Phone 7" as a statement, not a speculation/question

oh dear....
