Ok, some debugging information that may prove useful (again, this is on an N800 with community SSU+Diablo5, I don't think I've made any changes to swapiness).

I paused a song, then clicked play again and instead of starting from where it had stopped, it restarted the song. I've had this happen before, but I saw the following error on the console:

Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
   File "/opt/pyradio/libpiano/AbstractBackend.py", line 517, in _seek raise NotImplementedError
NotImplementedError
Hope this is helpful.

Oh, and for the record, I also get a whole slew of gtk "Unable to locate image file" errors when I start pyRadio from the console. Don't know if these would cause other problems. I can paste them here if you like.

Hrm... very strange. Seek (line 517) should never be called anywhere... but I think I know whats wrong with it.. but I don't understand why it's occurring.

For the GTK errors.. I guess pasting at least one couldn't hurt.. are you starting pyRadio as root or as user?

I just installed PyRadio:

1. At startup, I entered my Pandora username incorrectly (but pw correctly), & PyRadio crashed. Re-started, used correct info, & it worked OK.

2. An "About" button for checking the version would be nice.

pyRadio seems a lot more responsive now, although i'd say it got uglier in the rewrite. After giving it a runthrough and lookover i have given it thumbs up. Thanks for your work!

One thing i did notice is that it takes a very long time to start up, so much so that i began to think it had crashed. If there's no way to optimize startup time, maybe a splash screen or something could be provided as an indication things are working as intended?

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

I can agree with almost everything Flandry said. All valid points, so I second his comments. I'm really gonna rack my brain and try to make a mock up UI, there's gotta be some good idea in there.

I wish I could figure out how the built-in apps do it. If you've ever noticed when you launch like "Settings" you get a sort of non-responsive graphic of what the app WILL look like.. then it flashes when it's done loading and you can actually start manipulating it. I have no idea how they do that.. but I have a few ideas for pyRadio.

The only thing that's holding it up is I think I have a network call or two to engage Pandora that aren't being called through a timer so they are blocking the UI. These are ones that are crucial to the rest of the app.. but with a little rework there I can probably remove the necessity of them being called right away.

I am always open for new UI ideas. I do like the new buttons over the old, so that's a personal preference (as all UI design is) but as long as people keep giving me graphics and it appears others appreciate them I'll use them. Eventually, maybe, I'll had different themes using all the graphics I've been given.. we'll see.

@rotoflex: Good catch on the authentication. I looked at my function again and never reset the bad user/pass so it just tries it three times in a row and then crashes. Oops .

Another set of errors that I've gotten recently during a skipping-type bug.

Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/opt/pyRadio/libpiano/AbstractBackend.py", line 192, in __update_position
    pos, total = self._get_position()
  File "/opt/pyRadio/libpiano/OSSOBackend.py", line 190, in _get_position
    return (pos / 1000.0, total / 1000.0)
TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for /: 'tuple' and 'float'

And here are the errors I get on startup. Things seem to work fine, but this could be related to some of my problems...

pyRadio will eventually simply stop playback. It usually happens after a couple hours, and the symptom is that the music will stop and, although the GUI responds, there's no way to make it start playing again. This usually happens at the end of a song, but it also happens sometimes if i have hit "Pause" and later try to resume: nothing happens. The only way to get it going again is to close and re-open the app, whereupon it will resume playing, starting midway through the song if it wasn't finished.

I am using wifi and there seem to be no external causes (e.g. moving out of signal range, etc.).

What should i do to help diagnose the problem?
