hi everyone, I got trouble with these keys
As before, when I double pressed the Caps Lock key, it was always appeared the sentence "Caps Lock is locked" or double pressed the Fn key, it said "Fn is locked" or pressed Fn + Ctrl, it would appear the tablet with %, <, >, etc
now these keys dont work
as many time I press on Fn + Ctrl, it dont appear the tablet anymore

Does anyone here know the problem?

Did you install scim? Usually after scim is installed, the virtual keyboard will be disabled automatically. Hence your Fn+Ctrl no longer display the virtual keyboard for symbols.

I have the same problem. CapsLock doesnot wroking any more, I dont know why? Please help me!!

What, if anything, have you installed that may have to do with your phone's virtual keyboard, or inputs in general? Did you install any custom keyboard files? Did you remap any keyboards? Have you used ukeyboard or ukbcreator? Have you installed any of the SCIM components.

And more importantly, have you rebooted, then seen if the problem is still the same, and have you tested this in more than one or two programs. IE, if you can't get caps-lock in browser, go to X-Term, test there, go to notes, test there, go to some random custom app with text, test there. Etc. If you people don't give details about what's happened on your system recently, even if we wanted to spend our time doing all the work in figuring out your N900 bugs (which we typically do - we're masochistic like that), we can't if you don't give us details.

It's like emailing a doctor and saying "my arm hurts. Help!" And then when they ask you about how it hurts, where on your arm, and what you did beforehand, you just don't reply, go ask some other doctor, or give the most minimalistic answer possible.

Caps/Fn -lock not working is a symptom. One symptom. It can be caused by thousands of causes. If you don't specify what you recently installed, and/or what you recently did, what system files you edited, if any, etc, we can't help you except for throw out general suggestions.

If I know what softtware is make my keyboard unusable, I dont ask for help ;-)
I dont change manualy any system file, I was only install files from repository. I can make listing of instaled aplication and you can make diagnose form me?

I have this problem too. I have installed SCIM and then unintalled it. Now nothing works. FN, CAPS wont lock. Virtual keyboard wont work (used to, after uninstall though now it wont).
And also about few hours after restart the n900 gets stuck and I can't close/access opened applications, can't open new applications.

what could be the problem? Is it addressed somewhere else? can someone guide me?

Only aplication where CapsLock and Fn work is FreOffice. I was try all procedure from this site and still does not working in all aplication

Heh, funny enough, for me FreOffice is where CapsLock and Fn Lock don't work. Everywhere else it does work. So the two are linked, but at least now we know that it's some system-wide toggle that happened. I don't know where such variables are stored though, so I can't help much from here.

Do you have extras-devel or extras-testing enabled, or is all of your installed stuff from just extras?
