When I read blog posts at http://jaaksi.blogspot.com/ I think that Ari Jaaksi was very proud of the things he/ his team did at Nokia and he identified himself a lot with the company over all those years.
So, for me it's not clear why he left. Even more when there's no statement from him putting it into a better light.
I hope those decisions are well studied and I just don't see behind it.

the data connection is called assisted gps. it means that with it any smartphone kicks any tomtom, garmin,[insertyourfavouritestandalonenavigatorbrandhere], etcs *** 1000000 to 0 when looking at cold start times (the most common situation if you don't use your gps 21/7 for some reason)
