Guys,

Have been searching all day for a simple app to port across to n900 for stopping smoking (such as the great 'my last cigarette' app on symbian) but have finally come to the conclusion there is no open source no smoking app out there......so i would like to make a request to those with better coding knowledge than me.

if anyone out there fancies whipping up a quick stop smoking app that can keep track of how long you have stopped, how much you have save, health benefits etc (why this hasnt been done already i have no idea as there must be an appetite for it and the maemo desktop is crying out for a stop smoking widget....by me!)

will love you long time and youll help save my life as i cant stop without a gadgety app to help me along the way.

Well I've given up on the whole coding an app business. Turns out I just dont have enough time to learn new stuff these days but I have improvised and worked with what I have in a spare 10 mins....and made a spreadsheet that will give me the basics of what I was after.

Works well with gnumeric as well so with a desktop shortcut to the file.....its as close to an application as Im going to get just now

Main tab that opens on launch will give you a summary and then the second tab can be selected to change the settings. Due to the lack of this kind of application I though I would post in case anyone else would find it useful.

Even for us non-coding numpties the n900 can help us do what we need

Did you smoke during the 10 minutes it took you to create this spreadsheet? Maybe you should go back to coding and learning new stuff...

Can't work out the point of this - either you smoke or you don't, either you want to smoke or you don't. There is a lot of really great, useful apps that could be made for the N900, this just seems like a waste of time.

Is that you oprah?...Hey folks, it gives me what I needed which is a count of how long Ive been stopped and the amount Im saving when I open it...a basic my last cigarette app if you will. Im a man who likes a visual aid on my many attempts at stopping. I aint pretending this is some awesome app and wasn't expecting to be flamed for just sharing a quick spreadsheet I used to give me that aid.

Hey if it works, it works. Didn't mean to knock your attempts. It's not just yours though - i don't understand 'my last cigarette' either.

Nicotine addiction is a nasty one.

When I quit smoking, it helped me quite a lot to think how long I had been without a smoke. For example, calculating how much money I had saved by not smoking during that period (possibly good feature for app like this). EDIT: nevermind. You allready had that.

Nicotine addiction is purely physical (and medical) a condition and very few people can go cold turkey with cigarettes. Any help that will distract from thinking of pleasure of lighting up, remind, encourage, motivate and support the quitters to stay on track is useful.
