My new Nokia N800 will be arriving on Wednesday. Since I am new to this unit and forum... I have a question.

How do you update the system to the newest firmware/OS?

Do you recommend doing so also? I really want to use Skype and have the ability to use the 8GB SDHC cards... so that is why I was asking. Just wanted to get e leg up on all this before the unit arrives.

Go check the manufacturers web site for software updates...

Yes, it is highly recommended to flash to the newest firmware, especially because you are using high capacity memory cards. The newest firmware fixed a nasty memory card corruption bug...

Is there any difference between the Euro and US versions?

There is no difference between European and US firmware - Nokia 770/N800 firmware is Global and the same for all users.

does the hacker's edition work on the n800?

No, "OS 2007 Hacker Edition" is only for the 770 as the N800 already has an official version of OS 2007.

but aren't there packages/software that are designed only for os07he? or will they work on the official version for the N800?
