Hi, all

I would love to have a app like truecaller. It's available for almost every phone around except .... yes the famous N900 http://www.truecaller.com/?p=download
I know there is a app called jenirok but that one doesn't work in the Netherlands. (i'm from there) It only works for Finnish ,Swedish, Danish and German people i believe..

I also saw a video on youtube from a guy that lives in Israel. He got something working but i can't find it in the repository so i think he never released it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viuhEDIjAIA

So, my question is: Does somebody know a solution? or is able to change jenirok somehow that it wil search on a Dutch site?

I also think more people would like this and maybe there is a way to manually choose a site to use for seeking so that u can use it in every country.

Greetz,
Gohan

What would it be based upon? It lists Romania as available, but there are no actual directories and it's illegal to maintain such a list without consent - most I saw were a compilation of numbers and names from various crawlers that searched public information areas like Facebook. And they look quite large but considering that we have several million mobile users alone, they seem woefully lacking.

If it really is just an interface for a search then something simple, like a wget and a parser could be thrown together as a script and called from an open application, like recaller or espeakcaller.

The basic is pretty simple, but i can't code so for me it's hard to make.
But the principle is that the phone connects to a online phonebook to search for numbers that are not in your contact list... so when somebody calls u with a number that's not in your contact list it sends back the information like the name... or company name and maybe a adress..
Don't need any facebook info just the name is a start.

It's a closed application so you'd have to reverse engineer it a little to figure how it communicates at the back end.

In addition to various on line phone books (which you can buy access to) the application also shares your number and details with the collective - thus increasing the pool by however many people opt in to that particular feature.

I sure hope it's asking permission.
