Shouldn't it be autotic with PR 1.3 ... shouldn't it be incredibly easy to offer this software to n900 users?

Reporter: What's your prediction for tonight's fight?
Clubber: PAAIIIIINNNNN!!!!

Me: There is no chance that there will be a snowball in Hell but my prediction for Ovi maps is that Nokia will NOT provide the same Ovi Maps that is on Symbian for the N900. I think that the only chance of the N900 getting a feature complete Ovi Maps is if there is a new QT based Ovi Maps Navigation released for Meego and some knowledgable person codes it to work with Maemo.

Your questions:

1. Shouldn't it be automatic with PR 1.3?
No. Nokia never promised or even hinted at a complete Ovi Maps Navigation to be included in PR 1.3

2 Shouldn't it be incredibly easy to offer this software to n900 users?
Yes, it should. I believe the issue has to do with certain software components such as Pulse Audio performing poorly in the past. Can you imagine the voice nav stuttering and failing at pronouncing street names...... That is just my guess. Seriously though, there has to be a technical hurdle that has kept the Ovi Maps team from releasing a complete Ovi Maps Navigation application. I know there is Sygic with voice but we are talking about Nokia. Seems like anyone outside of Nokia can push the N900 hardware and software to do things that Nokia hasn't done or don't intend to do.

I hope this helped atleast bring in other members who may know more than I know.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?
