This is actually two feature requests.
1) I'd like to be able to view "Cell Tower" information always, even when GPS-fix has been made.
2) When logging, I'd optionally would like to record also "Cell Tower" information to the XML-file. Later, this XML-file could be converted to a database for some other uses, where just known Cell Towers around and signal strengths to them, one could calculate position more accurately even without GPS.
Currently I do not know if it is possible to know also other Cell Towers around you but that what you are connected to. But if, those other cell towers and signal strengths should be viewable and recordable also if the aboves are implemented.

A feature request
GPS Recorder writes *everything* it obtains from the Maemo's liblocation into the GPSR file (it also shows it as well, as soon as it gets it).
But while testing the application, I observed that kind of information is rarely available. It *seems* to be available only when GPS data is not. Or maybe liblocation sends it only when CellTower info changes ? I don't know...
The only thing I can do for you here is to give you more details about the GPSR file format so you can export the data you need by yourself.
But I guess it would be really faster for you to build a very little application to gather only the data you want from the liblocation : I believe there is an application that already partially fits your needs which is called "Tower Cell Info" (package "celltowerinfo").
Sorry for that.

1. I see the *.gpsr file that I converter in *.klm to show path in google earth. But I can't find my "named point" !!!! I can't see them both in *.klm file and anywere in record directory.
2. it would be useful that program suggest a progressive numbered sequence when it asks enter a "point name"- But again, where are now my "point"?

Pardon me but I failed my tentatives to report this bug (if it is) in the proper area.
The version is: 1.1.168
and you can see the gprs file attached.
I guess the POI should be inside the *.klm , isn't it?
Thanks
A little post to inform you that GPS Recorder version 0.1.162 has been released.
ChangeLog 0.1.152 -> 0.1.162 :
