Hi all,

I've been using my N900 for a while and would like to delve into the world of overclocking. I'm still quite unfamiliar with the N900's special capabilities, so if someone could provide me with the preferred method of overclocking, I'd appreciate it. I'm looking for somewhere between 850 to 1000MHz while preventing as much unnecessary harm to the device as possible.

Thanks!

1: Install power kernel from the app manager.
2: Read a bit about it on the wiki
3: Set it up with your preferred profile (and make it "stick" on reboot)
4: (optional) Install QCPUFreq from app. manager. Gives you a gui to set max freq.

all of the above is a normal install procedure. only thing you need to read about is power kernel command like tools.

For a newbie I would recommend Bakuur's script which you'll find @

You will need rootsh installed in order to make use of it.

Could you be a bit more specific?

well, i have read oc tutorials and in one of them saw a table where was shown different energy outputs with different oc profiles so i wondered does different profiles alter n900 performance in any significant way (battery usage, phones responsiveness, etc.).

BTW, sorry if it's hard to understand what am I typing, I'm just falling asleep right now.

There is no difference between them in performance, maybe in battery life... Anyway you should pick one and test if they are stable on your N900 with your frequency since every device is different... opt for lower voltages though

I wrote up a very basic guide here:

At the end there's a link to much more detailed info.
