I've posted a similar thread here http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ight=blacklist, but it seems no similar app is going that way yet. sorry for opening another thread in this section, but just wondering if anyone else has similar demand for such app on n900? or could anyone suggest an alternative way to do that before the app being released? Thanks a lot in advance

I'd like blacklist app for calls, sms would be a bonus.

I second that.
T-Mobile in the US is happy to charge $5 dollars a month for what could be easily handled by software.

I would imagine it's fairly simple to create this kind of application, or at least part of it anyway - just listen for the SMS on dbus, decode it if needed, then compare the incoming phone number against a white and blacklist and - the magic part - deliver / hide / delete as desired.

It's that last bit that I'm not too sure about. Need to do a little light reading first.

Hi, I got Pycallblocker on my n900, downloaded it from one of the repositories, not sure which one, but it does allow me to block calls.

the only app that i really miss from my other symbian phones is

Advanced Call Manager, that was the best app ever made for this purpose.

it would even have different profiles for nite and day, day of the week, etc.

that was THE app.

it's a shame that it's for symbina, android, blackberry and as usual nothing for maemo.

I have never understood the point of such an app... wouldn't it be easier to just don't answer? And if someone is too bothersome... set the silence profile...
