yes i use catorize .....but what is that exactly i should install ?

if you haven't overclocked its normal.nokia has made the cpu to run always at 500mhz while charging

Thank you atilla ......

i havnt overclocked my cpu....i just got my N900 about 3 weeks ago .....iam loving it ....so iam realy scared to overclock the cpu although i know it would be more kool performance and enjoyment .......

you think it is safe ?

that's a bit more info, but i still wouldn't install it. the author doesn't even say what the changes were. (apparently it's a build from the latest git repo.)
could be that it needs other components as well.

i guess i'm just too paranoid

besides, i use catorise (the only reason he seems to have recompiled hildon-desktop), and i have never encountered such behaviour.

Catorise is one way to trigger the hildon-desktop bug. This is well attested. Try going in and out of many sub- menus. Chances are the high cpu will come back.
If it does, open a terminal and type "sudo killall hildon-desktop" followed by a return.

Ooh, thanks. I'd forgotten about the patched hildon-desktop since upgrading to pr1.3.
I used his pr1.2 build for quite a while, and it solved a -major- battery drain problem, so...
Installing that new version now.
