Install on some networked pc the application LinPhone Set up your n900 on the same network (if possible, not necessary if you have a local sip server like I have) Call your n900 (sip:yourhandle@your.net.work) and initiate a video session. Hang up (and reboot ? - maybe, - i forget ) Voila - better mirror (useless app anyway) if that's what you want (I only noticed because I never actually use mirror, but accidentally started it a day or so ago and I was amazed at the difference )

actually the quality isn't any better, only aberrations etc are hidden (with impact for lowering the quality even more).
so it wasn't better quality you are after but less aberrations in the first place. (just as I suspected)

Launch n900 skype , enter user name and password , login and video call someone or create a second skype a/c and call yourself on a pc/lappie (windows skype , thats what i tried).
Log out, launch mirror app and see the difference yourself !
Apparently i believe skype tweaks the inbuilt settings/ colour equalizer of camera , whateva is it ..it works for me
update : mirror app looses the settings after reboot , Damn
