install becomeroot. Available at maemo.org. Although, last time I searched for it it didn't come up. I finally found it by using google site search....

I found a solution on Linux Questions. Here is the link to the article.

The basic steps are as follow:
1. Install x-term
2. Install dropbear ssh client
3. Bring up a shell prompt via x-term and type "sh root@localhost"
4. Enter the password "rootme"
5. You may wish to change the password with the "passwd" command

Enjoy...... thank my lovely and smart brother for this information... Ha Ha Ha....

eurogirlstew - Nooooo.... do as joshua said, install the becomeroot package, once you have done that you only need to execute "sudo gainroot" in xterm to become root.

Add the following repository to the application catalogue in Application Manager, refresh then select the "becomeroot" package for installation:

Catalogue Name: eko.one
Web Address: http://eko.one.pl/maemo
Distribution: bora
Components: user

or alternatively download the package from here:

http://eko.one.pl/maemo/dists/bora/u....1-2_armel.deb

and "install from file" in Application Manager.

BTW, I have a personal preference for openssh over dropbear (openssh has more functionality and arguably more "standard" in terms of operation, not to mention more up to date with bug fixes)

Catalogue Name: Maemo Extras
Web Address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras
Distribution: bora
Components: free non-free

Then install "openssh-server".
