Hi I'm searching for an app that could just ring as soon as a friend of mine get's online (skype, ICQ and so on). Maybe there is already some in the catalog. If not I would request for it.

What u need is buddy pounce feature right? AFIAIK, it is not available for the built in IM service, but pidgin has that feature i believe. It is available in the repos.

Thanks missing this in the built in IM service is the reason why I was asking. I donīt want to install pidgin.

Try in X Terminal as root (not dangerous, just giving you some output)
initctl -v events

If it does print some text when an IM contact gets online, you are lucky: I know an easy way, no extra programs, no compiling, to notify you when an IM contact gets online.

If it doesn't, then it's highly possible that "dbus-scripts" will help you.

Try in X Terminal as non-root
dbus-monitor

It will output practically every event: camera opened, camera closed, window opened, window closed, etc. So read the output immediately after a contact went online and find the message related to it. Then you will know what dbus-message to look for.
