7z.001 is one of a multi-part file.
You'll get an error unless you have ALL of the maemo-sdk-vmware_0.3.7z.??? files in the same directory when you attempt to extract.

Figured out my problem, I combined both files using a third party app and then extracted with winrar.

In the meantime do you have 5Gb free and 'You can also perform the steps with using the graphical tools and double-clicking the maemo-vmware.vmx file' (from the first page of the instructions)
