i tried that. it doesn't work. on that setting it won't even make a connection to the data/ MMS service. it just shows that it's working but doesn't do anything. i have tried that with and without my internet connection on (including wifi)

I have the same issue with Vodafone Australia

Geiger, many, if not most, of the Whirlpool n900 users only see one thread in the phones section of Whirlpool and that is the main "Nokia N900 Maemo Linux phone thread - Part 11!"
Maybe if you had posted there you would have got some help. I know for a fact many of the users in that thread use Optus, or optus resellers.
The n900 thread at WP is 11 parts and over 500 pages in total. A new thread wasn't the right idea.
So have another go at posting your question, but in the thread I mentioned above.
