I'm (somewhat) proud to announce my very first serious project in programming ever. I have until now built up a stable ground to start from and already got some responses from a thread here on TMO and to my email. Therefor I think it's about time for a announcement to get the strings combined.

The whole idea of savepress is to easily toggle a power-saving-mode with the right side lock key. It's an enhancement of Longpress which is created by Matan, all props to him!


Savepress
Current version: 0.5-8 (extras-devel)
Info: A single script which reads a configfile and runs some commands when activated through dbus-scripts.
Functions:
*Set limits for the frequencies or lock a single frequency (needs kernel-config and kernel-config-settings).
*Toggle Wifi or disconnect GPRS.
*Toggle the cellular radio (i.e the phone signal).
*Toggle a GSM/2g-only mode.
*Disable bluetooth.
*Toggle screen brightness (has to be set manually).
*Toggle FM Transmitter (has to be set manually).
*Set the number of seconds you would like to hold down the key to toggle the script.
*A button (which doesn't make anything when pressed) is visible in the power-key meny when active.

Savepress-editor

Info: My first ever PyQT experience. A simple GUI to set your settings to the configfile.

Special info!
As the editor hasn't yet got kinetic scroll, display brightness and fm transmitter has to be enabled manually (if you want any of them). In /home/user/.config/savepress after you used the editor.

If I may make a suggestion, a way to toggle loudspeaker on & off during a call without being forced to use the touchscreen would be very helpful!

Savepress is focused on battery saving only.

Savepress itself is just a daemon toggled with the lock-key on the right side of your device. Savepress-editor is a GUI application. There is a known permission issue, but its fixed with an included (hopefully) temporary fix in savepress. Just run it once before using the editor for the first time. Dbus-scripts (dependency) might need a reboot after installation, I don't know.

could you explain this part? in savepress I don't see any settings about brightness

The development of savepress has actually ended and therefor the editor hasnt room for the settings of those two functions. Ive now realized that ive forgot to update the new config-file in the package. Sorry about that.

I might update the package, might not. If you want to enable it by hand:

Add two lines into the bottom of /home/user/.config/savepress
vbright is brightness of the screen and vfmt is the fm transmitter. Add wich one you want, after you used the editor.


That should do the trick.
