This is called user feedback. If Open Source community could stay aware about this it only could improve the quality of the apps.

This is what is happening every single day in commercial world.
Devs are struggling to understand some user requirements, sometimes they are just plain stupid, true. There is no way that user can understand development process. But in other hand there is no more useful information source. They care about tangible stuff, no mater how beautiful it is under the hood.

As long as critic is constructive, giving you power and motivation to improve your stuff. If not, you are not ready to call yourself developer... maybe coder.. but not developer.

We definitely need developers here.

Positive criticism: I think you have to improve this and that blah blah...
Rude criticism: I didn't understand a thing of your app (since I use note and it's better) so you're app is useless...

This is a spare time hobby, not a career.

You know, around here even a blank post could cause massive death.

I am at the hello world stage so I can't comment on what developers face, but a quick reading of that, it is bordering on rude. There are ways to say things that impart criticism while at the same time showing appreciation, this comment had none of the latter.

Really? Because what it looked like to me was 'i'm quitting and it's all because of that guy.'

Besides, I think we're all tired of 'i'm quitting the n900' threads by now.

Although I've skipped the N900 and I barely use my N800 anymore, finding that my Android devices are serving all my needs lately, I would think that it's an incredible shame that this is all it would take to dissuade you from writing your application on a platform you're comfortable with.

Although I agree that the comment lacked tact, looking past the disgraceful construction of the comment to the substance can be useful. If it's useful and you fix it, you might find far more positive responses in general. Just the same, I hope you have better experiences forthcoming whether or not you remain on this platform or I find you on another.

For what it's worth, I hadn't seen this app before and was pretty happy to see that someone wrote a good, useful application like this for new fathers, despite your fall-out with the comment.

Pantera lmao.... all jokes aside, i am sad to see him go but not to rant and rave it kills me that we have to all rely on average joes who do this work as a labor of love. with a device so capable as the n900 there should have been armies of programmers working for nokia getting the job done. its more a testament to my disdain and contempt for nokia than is it for his decision to cut himself loose.

that being said, i appreciate ALL developers and i always throw mad props your way. keep up the fight and further development. this phone is the people's phone. all you programmers and developers made it what it is and not nokia. i wouldnt even think twice in giving any honor to nokia on this device.

nuff said........
