Hello,

This is my first post on this forum so please be patient

So I have a problem with adding dictionary to my Mstardict app. I have downloaded correct STARDICT file but after unzipping can see only two files inside:
  • DICT
  • IDX

Unfortunatelly there was no any .IFO file included.
As far as I know Mstardict does not read dictionaries without . ifo files.
And my question is if there is something I could do with that? Can I create .ifo file myself based on the documents I already have?

I also tried Star Dict editor but it does not seem to solve my problem.

Anywane could guide me how to make this file working with Mstardict?

After spending a very long painful time trying to figure how to add dictionaries to MStarDict all by myself as none of the guides actually were of any use, i decided to a write a complete guide that actually works for anyone trying to get dictionaries for MStarDict:

1. You need to have MStarDict installed
2. Download the dictionaries you need here
3. The dictionary will be downloaded as a WinRAR file, you need to extract it
4. You will get a folder with 3 files inside with different extensions (.dz .idx .ifo)
5. You need to copy these 3 files to this location on your phone (/home/user/MyDocs/mstardict)
6. Launch the MStarDict app, open up and application menu, tap Dictionaries, you should find all your dictionaries in there choose any of them and tap ok
7. Done.

If you have ANY questions PLEASE ask me. I'm really willing to help anyone with a very limited experience with Linux like me and save them all the trouble i've been through.

Hope that was helpful
Cheers.
