get from ebay 1A microusb charger, would cost 3$ including shipping. I have got 2 and both work like a charm.

Yes, DC-10 is about twice as powerful. Has a retracteable cable, and an annoying blue glow.

Buy a small USB adapter, jumper the data pins with a blob of solder and you can charge ANYTHING that plugs into USB. Costs maybe $2 on eBay and 10 minutes of your time.
Actually no.
They tell, iPhones won't charge even with this trick (solder data pins together)

I have this 700 mA charger coming. Will tell you guys then if it works with N900 without modifications.

If you want a Nokia charger the dc-10 is definitively the one to get (it works great, annoying blue glow or not). The dc-6 is does not supply enough power and is useless with the n900.

i really wouldn't rely on that. something went wrong when i was away from home and although it said it was charging it clearly wasn't. once my batt died it wouldn't come back to life and i was worried the phone had died. it was a very bad time to be let down this way. ended up stuck in the car for hours. in the morning went to a phone shop and bought a wall charger i could use to get my phone running again and ordered a proper in car one once i was home again.

yeah i agree with you as i have been using the adaptor supplied in the phone box with an old big pin nokia charger and even after hours of charging in the car no improvement in the battery life! i need to find myself a good in car charger too.

OKAY ..... if you are in the USofA then head on over to the wonderful world of Walmart. pick yourself up a charger made by VIVITAR. costs only 4.97 best part... it has a micro usb as well as a mini usb cable attached

AVOID: Verizon android chargers. I've had two that I tried from a friend that didn't supply enough power to charge the N900.

I got one from Sprint that was rated for 1Amp, and that works fine. I think you'll find that if it says "rapid charger" or "1Amp" on the package, you'll be fine. Otherwise, I'd avoid off brands. The DC-10 is a nice option if you want a matching "Nokia" branded charger.
