OSMapper is an tracker application for the N900, made with the OpenStreetMap surveyor in mind.

In addition to track your movements, it allows you to make waypoints describing what you are tracking.

Please observe: If you upload the track to OpenStreetMap for online editing or for others to download, all waypoints are stripped !

You can download an installation package from garage at : https://garage.maemo.org/projects/osmapper/.

A description of the project, and the users manual can be found on the project page http://osmapper.garage.maemo.org/

When I find out how to, I'll upload to extra devel.

Version 1.2 of OSMapper has been released.

In this version the number of buttons in one row has been limited to 5 to make the UI more finger friendly.

Now and then the settings was not saved, I'm not entirely sure why, mostly the settings file had to be deleted, so now the settings file are cleared before the setting are saved.

I still haven't succeeded in uploading to extra devel, but are still working on it.

Version 1.3 of OSMapper has been released.

The maintenance of the way point buttons has been greatly simplified and thereby made more flexible.

You can download an installation package from garage at : https://garage.maemo.org/projects/osmapper/.

A description of the project, and the users manual can be found on the project page http://osmapper.garage.maemo.org/

I'm still trying to figure out how to upload to extra devel (in and out between my other projects), but still haven't found a usable method.

I finally succeed in uploading OSMapper to extras-devel , so from now on you should be able to install from location/navigation.

The current version still is 1.3, no changes has been made to the source since the last announcements.

Please test, and comment.

Thanks.

Can I ask in what regards is OSMapper better than Ovi Maps or the Maemo Mapper (aka. Mappero)?

Hi Venemo

OSMapper does not show any maps, so it cannot be compared to Ovi maps or Maemo Mapper.

OSMapper is a tool for those who are surveying for OpenStreetMap to make it simpler to take note of properties on the track like surface conditions, pedestrian crossings etc.

Hi cantruchd

Sorry for the late reply, hadn't seen your message.

You start the program as any other program, by selecting the icon in the application list. When you have started the program, you select 'Start mapping' from the menu.

You can some documentation on the garage project page : http://osmapper.garage.maemo.org/

If this doesn't help please feel free to contact me with a more specific description of your problem.

New version of OSMapper has been released to extra-devel.

The following has been changed :

An option has been added to the menu allowing the user to specify how many buttons should be displayed on one line.

The program has been moved from /usr/bin to /opt.

Those who already has the program installed, should be able to update via the application manager.
