i am not sure if anybody mentioned it here but if anyone don't want to follow this method then
sudo gainroot
reboot
is all you need to do provided you got rootsh installed. will try this tutorial some time later but using filebox with root access will allow us to do the things in easier way.

The power menu method is convenient, fast and intuitive.
The usual reason for reboot the phone is because it has slowed down. Opening xterm and typing in commands will take ages.

Thanks for this, but you made the instructions seem much harder than it is.

realised that sometimes when clicking on reboot, it doesn't reboot... not often but occasionally doesn't reboot automatically... just shuts down...

bug?

OMG its pretty simple to do especially with filebox and leafpad installed. In short
1. Get filebox and leafpad
2. Enable root access in Filebox from its setting, select leafpad as text editor
3. Browse to /etc/systemui
4. Long press file>Copy it>Paste it somewhere as backup
5. Long press file>Edit
6. Move comment indicator(<!--) few line below so that reboot option comes out of comment. Save changes
7. done! killall systemui or reboot to apply changes.

Anyways, great job to post the trick.

Couldn't it be packaged as a standalone application like, for example, "Tablet Mode Button"?

I did the change and I'm very happy with the new reboot button and the good instructions.

But I think that a noob that never has read xml-files could make dangerous things to systemui.xml.
E.g. if he uncomments one part of the tag and forgets the other part.
This would make the whole xml-file unreadeable.

The instructions are very precise.
But it would be good to show to a noob exactly how the text looks before and how it looks after the changings.
