I got lots of stuff installed, and somtimes it is quite hard to find an specific icon the way Catorise GUI lists them; it is like it picks a random few and puts those in alphabetical order, then another few and puts those in alphabetical order separatedly, repeating till it runs out of icons; imagine trying to find a word in a paper dictionary like that

Does it really need to scramble things like that?

Catorize uses the real names of the applications, like Hildon File Manager instead of just File Manager, or vice versa. Things further got scrambled, if you are using some other location settings than american-english.

Is there some setting i can change to make it use the display names of the icons when sorting?

I think it is just displaying the contents of /opt/catorise/menu without sorting it at all. If you want it to sort you'll have to add sorting functionality to the program yourself. It's a relatively simple C++ Qt app.
