Hi guys.

I'm very unsetteled this morning. It looks like my phone is randomly deleting information I enter. Now I have the proof :
Saturday, I went to the auto-école down the road. I took the number of the instructor from the clerk, entered it in the phone, and saved it under the name "auto-école", then called. I got the guys, we talked, everything was OK.

Now this morning, not only the number is gone from the "all contacts" list, it's also missing from the call log. From the latter, I did'nt call anybody this day.

This has happened before. I just could'nt put my finger on it.
I find it hard to express what I feel. I'm gonna lose my ****ing job if I cant' rely on my phone to track down bits of my life, thats how serious it is.

Please help me understand what's going on

Are you sure nobody is touching your phone? Maybe someone hates you? (I'm serious) And deletes your important contacts

Yes I am. This week, I'm pretty sure, nobody even laid hands on my N900.

The only person could be my wife and I asked her "honey did you delete the number of the auto-école guy from my phone ?" and she said no. And I trust her.

So your saying your N900 has become self aware and is trying to systemically ruin your life? That's not too far fetched...

What I'm saying is that I lost a contact from my phone. This I'm sure of.

While I appreciate you humor trait (I do) the purpose of this thread is to find out whether the same thing happened to somebody else, and ideally find a way to remedy it.

the only solution would be to backup all ur stuff (using the backup app or ovi suite) and then reflash ur phone

Maybe your /home or /home/user/MyDocs is mounted read-only. This can be caused if there are errors on them for example. Open a terminal and type "mount" to check. There should be lines like this:

/dev/mmcblk0p2 on /home type ext2 (rw, noatime...)

and

/dev/mmcblk0p1 on /home/user/MyDocs type vfat (rw,noauto...)

+1 for backup and reflash!

I could only imagine the contacts database is being corrupted, so go for an eMMc reflash too.
