I am starting to play with my N900 and am trying to use gst-launch to capture and stream live video/audio. But due to my lack of understanding am not sure if/how I can do this so I can view the stream in RealPlayer, VLC Player, Windows Media player and a web page. In short I dont want to force the viewer to have to download any extra software to view the stream but allow them to use their player of choice.
Is this possible without any 3rd party software. I have downloaded OpenJDK and have implemented a basic http server to listen to incoming requests and start gst-launch which currently just captures a JPEG image and sends it using MJPEG format. This can be viewed in firebox and chrome but not in IE.
Anyway any tips or advise as I dont fully understand how gst-launch works and if it can create a stream accessable to the above players.
PS. I am currently only interested in running this on a WIFI LAN so I would know all the relavent IP addresses, but any advise of how to allow internet access would also be great.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
