I think it's more handy than cover for specific time and show up.

@maxx: do you mean when the proximity sensor is close then show media bar and if it open hide the media bar?

thats the setting i want too....

@NightShift79: those are some very nice mock ups would be cool to have mediabar get to that stage

Mmm, there was an update for Mediabar today, which I ran successfully. After a few minutes use I encountered a problem with mediabar. It got stuck permanently on the top left of the screen . I couldn't end task it or remove it and it just sat there regardless of which screen I was on (I have nine desktops).

So I rebooted my N900 and it's still rebooting 5 hours laters (constantly)....

No finger pointing, just wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing? I am about to flash my device.
It's not a big deal at all, and I will have the N900 back to normal by lunch time, just wondering if this has been picked up by any others!

Or is there a work around into getting my N900 to stop rebooting. I usually use PUTTY to make changes, is there anything I can remove or edit?

P.S. Strangely it was just after my previous post to ConfusedFella that the problem occured... I had just written that reply on my phone when boom, mediabar jammed.

Until I have just checked I nver realised it was a button I alwauys assumed it was the proximty meter before today!! Anyway It does make you wonder why Nokia ever did use a seperate button just for this one shortcut when your idea is far simpler.
Yes, I have had the same problem. Mediabar stuck in top left hand corner. Really stuck. I can't do anything. I actually rebooted thinking it would resolve the problem, and now I am stuck in an infinite boot loop. It loads, I see the desktop and before any buttons are clicked or screen touched the N900 reboots.

Not really the best fix, but flasher-3.5 --enable-rd-mode --set-rd-flags=no-lifeguard-reset will bring it back to life, till you can fix it.

What did you change? These reboots are related to system binaries (hildon-desktop, hildon-home, widgets f'ing both of them up, but this doesn't use any of them).

Had a sleep to think about what changed, and you mentioned desktops, well I have the MaeModder application loaded and had switched on 8 desktops, and tried setting a background for the 8th screen and it didn't work. The screen went black. I tried it a couple of times with different backgrounds with little success. Then I switched off the black screen by going back into MaeModder and setting 7 screens with no backgrounds. That was earlier on in the day. (Of course I had not rebooted the phone yet).

I also updated the TouchSearch App (not sure if this has anything to do with it).

Updated mediabar with rcg1's patch (thanks!) which allows free placement with the config file, and of course, added those parts to the GUI for easy configuration

I might implement a drag and drop way to set it.

very nice!

I would also like to se a drag and drop way to position the mediabar.

Do you got some hint, how I can use a single background for the buttons?

Currently, you can't (unless you edit the code), it's set to be transparent.

yes, noticed that...
If I try to compile your source with QTCreator (Win7) I face the fact that the package creation failed.

As my knowledge about QT is less to non, I don't know how to fix this. you have a hint?
Do I need to change maybe the makefile or what?
