is this normal? its like a little darker on the right side of the screen when it displays very white colours, for example when you turn it on, the nokia sign.

Confirmed, it's normal. Hopefully the n810 does not have this issue, it has LED backlight.

The cause of the problem on the N800 is normal; most devices using this type of screen exhibit this (it's caused by the LED emitters creating a shadow), just to varying degrees. Unfortunately the N800s tended toward worst-case. It is very minimal on the N810.
